Sarah K. Benning is an American fiber artist with a nomadic studio practice. She creates highly detailed, hand embroidered works of art inspired by nature and interior design.
Join me in Chicago, Wednesday, September 14th from 6-8 pm for an evening of freestyle stitching at Humboldt House!
Participants will explore embroidery as an illustration technique and create their very own mini potted jungle or cactus cutie to take home. I often stray from the more rigid traditional methods and embrace experimentation and play, so all skill levels are welcome and no experience in necessary! I will demonstrate (and assist when needed) each step in the process from transferring your design to preparing your hoop to hang and all the stitches in between.
All materials will be provided and there will even be snacks and drinks!
WHERE: Humboldt House, 1045 N. California, Chicago, IL 60622
WHEN: Wednesday, September 14th, 6-8 pm
WHAT YOU GET: Embroidery hoop + fabric, needle, thread snips, embroidery floss, and a selection of designs to choose from.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING: Just an open mind and a little patience!
WHAT YOU LEAVE WITH: Your very own hand-embroidered piece of artwork and any materials you may need to take home to finish up your stitching.
Tickets are available online through Humboldt House at humboldthouseco.com/workshopsproduct.
