Sarah K. Benning is an American fiber artist with a nomadic studio practice.  She creates highly detailed, hand embroidered works of art inspired by nature and interior design.

WHAT:  In these hands-on workshops I will share my favorite techniques, materials, and inspirations and participants will leave with the skills and tools to create their very own embroidered artworks.  These workshops are open to all skill levels from embroidery beginners to seasoned stitchers and all materials will be provided including botanical designs, a wooden embroidery hoop, fabric, thread snips, pencils, embroidery needles, and a selection of DMC embroidery floss courtesy of DMC Spain.

WHAT: Join me for an intimate evening of DIY stitching and snacks where I will share some of my favorite materials,  techniques, and inspirations during a series of Contemporary Embroidery Workshops in the Rathmines neighborhood of Dublin, Ireland!  All materials will be provided for this workshop including light refreshments, a selection of plant-inspired designs, hoop + fabric, needle, thread snips, and DMC embroidery floss to share.  No previous stitching knowledge is necessary and all experience levels are welcome

WHAT: Join me in Brooklyn at Make Workshop for two spring stitching workshops.  In this hands-on workshop I will introduce participants to my favorite materials, stitches, techniques, and inspirations. WHAT:  I will be joining an incredible group of women including Arounna KhounnorajElise GoodwinGeninne ZlatkisLizzy House, and Sarah Neubert to teach textile-oriented workshops tucked away at the base of the Flatiron Mountains for the spring Makerie creative retreat. In my Contemporary Embroidery workshops, participants will immerse themselves in the meditative and relaxing process of stitching and walk away with a new piece of contemporary art.
